Operational details specific to San Francisco International Airport.
Signature Flight Support is staffed 24/7/365, so there is no after-hours gap to plan around. Because SFO is the most regulated FBO airport in the Bay Area, our chauffeurs arrive 15 to 20 minutes before block-in with the airport-issued transponder and decals already on the vehicle and the driver's SFO security badge in hand. The Signature terminal is on North Access Road, separate from the commercial roadways, so we stage at the FBO rather than the airline curbs. Planeside tarmac pickup is possible when coordinated in advance with the Signature desk and confirmed against the operator's SFO Ground Transportation Permit.
SFO's 11,870-foot runway and no weight restriction means we see the full ultra-long-range fleet here, including Gulfstream G650 and G700, Global Express, and BBJ arrivals. For one or two executives with a few bags off a G650, we default to the Cadillac Escalade for the cabin presence and tinted privacy. For mixed couples or three to four passengers off a Global, the Chevy Suburban Premier gives a larger luggage well without changing the look. Full crew movements or family-and-staff groups off a BBJ route to the Mercedes Sprinter, which clears the Signature canopy and holds the entire manifest in one vehicle.
Three runs dominate from Signature SFO. Downtown San Francisco at 13 miles and 20 to 30 minutes is the Financial District, SoMa, and Pacific Heights crowd — typically a single Escalade. Silicon Valley via Palo Alto at 22 miles and 25 to 35 minutes serves Sand Hill Road meetings and Stanford-area homes, where a Suburban handles the luggage on a same-day turn. Napa Valley at 58 miles and 60 to 90 minutes is the long pull, usually a winery weekend or wedding — we lean Sprinter for groups so cases and golf bags do not split across vehicles. San Jose at 32 miles and Oakland at 30 miles round out the longer transfers.
SFO sits between US-101 and I-280, and both feed the rush windows. Mornings 7 to 9 AM hit hardest on the US-101 south push toward Silicon Valley, where the airport drive time stretches 15 to 45 minutes on top of the off-peak number. Evenings 4 to 7 PM are worst northbound on US-101 into the city and on I-80 toward the Bay Bridge and Napa, again 15 to 45 minutes added. Saturday afternoons in summer compound the I-80 Napa leg with wine-country traffic, so we pad the Napa estimate when scheduling. Late-night arrivals after 9 PM clear quickly in every direction.
Signature SFO is a single 10,000 sq ft LEED Gold Certified terminal on the north side of the airport, south of the Coast Guard station and away from commercial passenger flow. Passengers walk off the aircraft into an executive lounge with a business center, conference rooms, Wi-Fi, and concierge support, with two 24,000 sq ft hangars on the ramp. Our chauffeur meets at the Signature desk and handles luggage from the lounge to the vehicle, or coordinates planeside handoff when credentials and prior arrangement allow. Because it is the sole FBO at SFO, there is no operator choice to confirm with the passenger.
